Please contact me if you have any questions or comments you would like to make. I would be happy to add your questions to the following list:

What am I looking at? Polaroid Transfers. A photographic process with Polaroid film allowing the image to be transferred to another surface. There are many methods and materials to choose from. A free pdf book is available by Holly F. Dupré for download on the subject. Please take some time to look at her work and the work of others listed on the links page.

What size are the transfers? The original image area is approximately 4 by 5 inches. The paper base is 5.5 by 7.5 inches with a deckled edge. Prints are available in sizes other than the original art work. See the purchases page for more details

What is available to purchase? Immediately available are prints of varying sizes and electronic scans of the transfers used for publishing. Contact me directly if you have interest in the originals. Visit the purchase page for more details and other items available for purchase.

What is stock photography? The owner of an image has the "copyright." The photographer, in this case, sells a pre-existing image for use in a publication. The photographer still owns the work and the publisher pays a fee for it's agreed-upon usage.

Can you explain how you are taking the photographs? I often use multiple exposures of varying durations of the model(s) until the image is ready for processing. I work with an image in my mind until I am satisfied with the exposure for the image to be processed. At that point it is processed as a transfer.

Are they computer enhanced? No, quite the opposite. The transfers are camera originals that are later scanned and put on this website. The limitations and variances of the internet, and computers themselves, hinder the viewing experience by reducing our visual range down to the internet's 256 colors. You can learn more about the work on the artist page.

Are these copies of existing photographs? No. Each image presented is a one-of-a-kind, in-camera, original. Some artists take a collection of existing photographs and make copies of them as Polaroid transfers. I decided some time ago that I wanted the challenge of working with models directly on the film surface.
